It's been a busy few weeks but mostly in that we were making some last minute updates to our plans. Things will start to move more rapidly which can be great but also overwhelming with all of the decisions to make. We are going to be working with a great local designer, Fiona Leonard, so she will help me make many of the big decisions right now and then smaller, more tedious choices as we go along. For example, this week when we met briefly, I expressed my concern that we didn't have enough storage space in the kitchen. I am coming from a much larger kitchen which seemed important when raising my boys, but as they won't be living with us all the time when off in college, we have different needs at this stage of our lives. Still, I am having a hard time imagining the space and where I will put all of my "stuff". I know the answer is probably in the donation bin so I will get to that but we were able to reorganize the space a bit so that we could gain some more storage. When are you so "in it", you often lose sight of what is important why we are really doing this it's great to partner with someone who gets you and that you trust!
This afternoon, I had a meeting with the builder and project manager who walked me through the site plan and elevations so we can start to see how the home will fit on the lot. That was cool to see. In doing that we can also see the window plan from the outside. Of course, a few modifications will need to be made but that's what this process is all about. Another struggle is choosing the exterior finishes. The biggest problem is that in being a real estate agent, I see so many beautiful homes that I have a million great ideas swirling in my head, most of which won't work on this style home, but I won't know that if I don't ask so I am going to drive the architect crazy and ask him to give me a few options. Maybe I will share some and get your thoughts at our next meeting!
That was really it. We will have an all hands on deck meeting in 10 days or so where we will try to finalize the plans so they can submit them for permits which I was told takes 4 to 6 weeks. Ouch. Feeling like this is going to take a little longer than I had anticipated!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Bye for now,
Ellen
